Life Stage Care:

Our hospital is well equipped to provide compassionate, high quality, complete health care for your pet, no mater what their age. From specialized and preventative care during their younger years to regular wellness checks as they age in order to prevent and detect problems before they arise. We know your pet is important to you, that's why we work hard to ensure they are given only the best in care through all the years of their lives. Regular wellness examinations will confirm that your pet is healthy or help catch problems before they become more serious. Your pet's semi-annual veterinary visit will include some, if not all of the following: a health consultation, blood work, a physical examination, pain assessment, nutritional counseling, vaccinations if necessary, an intestinal parasite screening and a recommendation for an on-going wellness routine.

Surgical:

Our state-of-the-art surgery suite is well equipped for a wide variety of surgical procedures. The doctor at Bella Vista Animal Hospital performs surgeries such as spays, neuters, laceration repairs, growth removals, exploratories, gastrotomies, enterotomies, cystotomies, eye surgeries and a variety of other procedures. We utilize the safest available gas and injectable anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, we are able to monitor your pet's vital statistics during all anesthetic procedures. We require pre-operative screens on all our surgery patients to make sure we do not have any anesthetic or post-anesthetic complications due to organ dysfunction. We require intravenous (IV) catheters with fluids and complete pain management for the safety, health, and comfort of your pets during their surgery.

Radiology:

With our on-site digital X-ray machine, we are able to take high quality X-rays to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. We are able to have your pets' results right away, so you don't have to wait, and are able to electronically transmit your pets' X-ray images to obtain consultations via the Internet if necessary.

Dentistry:

Studies show that 50% of all dogs and cats have some form of periodontal disease. That number jumps to 75% in pets over three years of age. Left untreated, periodontal disease can cause infection, pain and tooth loss over time. It can also lead to microscopic changes in the heart, liver and kidneys and can cause serious health problems for your pet.

At Bella Vista Animal Hospital, we are committed to our patients' dental health and implement the highest quality dental care. We take a comprehensive approach to dental care including dental health assessment, treatment and prevention.

We have state of the art dental equipment including digital x-rays to help diagnose disease that is below the gum tissue and therefore not always visible to the eye. We recommend an annual dental healthcare examination for all pets–make an appointment or call us.

Electrocardiography:

We offer cardiac screening and work-ups with our in-house ECG machine as well as sending then to cardiology specialists for consultations.

Laboratory:

Our in-house laboratory facilities allow us to provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize Antech Diagnostics, the largest veterinary diagnostic laboratory in the country, for specialized testing and consultations.

Pharmacy:

We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, and shampoos, as well as, flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet.

Microchip Implantation:

The veterinarian simply injects a tiny microchip about the size of a grain of rice (12mm) beneath the surface of your pet's skin between the shoulder blades. The microchip itself has no internal energy source, so it will last the life of your pet. It is read by passing a microchip scanner over the pet's shoulder blades. The microchip's unique code positively identifies your pet. If your pet gets lost and is taken to an animal shelter or veterinarian, they will scan the microchip to read its unique code. This is the number used by HomeAgain™ to identify the pet and retrieve your contact information, which is used to contact you and reunite you with your pet.

Acupuncture:

Acupuncture involves inserting sterile, thin needles into specific points on the body. There are many factors that determine what point will be used and what technique will be best for the patient. There are many conditions for which acupuncture can be used. Keep in mind that before treating a condition with acupuncture your pet should have a thorough physical exam and workup to determine the cause of the problem. Hip dysplasia, arthritis, intervertebral disc disease, and spondylosis are just a few of the orthopedic diseases that acupuncture can be used to treat. Acupuncture can also be used to treat a variety of other conditions, including seizures, constipation, renal (kidney) disease, immune disorders, liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease just to name a few. The number of treatments needed depends upon the condition being treated and the duration of the problem. An acute injury may require a few treatments. A chronic disease may require 6 to 10 treatments with tune-ups as needed.

Laser Therapy:

Unlike high-power medical lasers, which are widely used to safely cut and remove tissue, the Low Level Laser penetrates the surface of the skin with no heating effect or damage. The energy is directed deep into effected area stimulating the body's cells which convert the energy into chemical energy to promote natural healing.

Laser Therapy stimulates cellular activity, expediting the healing processes to reduce inflammation and repair damaged tissue:

  • Deep tissue penetration significantly increases the body's cellular production of ATP (Adenosine-triphosphate) to reduce inflammation and heal the inflamed area.
  • Healing and pain relief with no side effects, drug interaction effects, or invasive surgery.
  • Treats acute and chronic conditions as well as post surgical pain.
  • Pain relief is felt immediately.
  • Most treatments take only 5 minutes or less.
